Hopper's Galley

Hopper's Galley, the name given to the IT department for the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, approached us in need of a new logo. Named after Grace Brewster Murray Hopper, a female computer scientist pioneer and innovator who worked in the federal government, we knew the logo needed to convey the fundamental purpose of an IT department—to keep technology running. By incorporating the universal symbol for power into a custom-created typeface and illuminating it with a familiar green glow, the logo remains true to the IT department's core purpose while still providing a unique identifier that can be used in a variety of ways.
